87 Post Road East, Westport, CT

Management and Leasing provided by DAR for 3rd party owner.

Historic "flat-iron" building situated in downtown Westport, one block from Main Street and the Saugatuck River. The building sits in a prominent position at the intersection of Post Rd E (Rt 1) and Church Lane. It is leased by three tenants; Patagonia, Pink Sumo Japanese restaurant, and InFirst Healthcare.

The Preservation of a Landmark

Built in 1924, the building was originally occupied by Westport Bank & Trust Company. In 2005, an intense effort was made by David Adam Realty to restore as much of the character of this historic landmark as possible.

We've saved and refurbished all of the original exterior masonry and brick facade, the original two-story windows, the terrazzo flooring, and four of the five bank vaults. In the Patagonia space, we preserved two original 10'x12' mural paintings that were painted in 1965 by local artist Robert L. Lambdin, which depict scenes from Westport’s history.

Their strong tradition as an environmentally-conscience company made Patagonia a natural fit to occupy a space that went through such a painstaking preservation process. Patagonia supported David Adam Realty and encouraged us to use as much of the original building materials as possible, which they incorporated into their interior design.

The hard work and attention to detail was rewarded in September of 2005, when the building was officially recognized as a National Historic Building.

100% Leased.
